Notice Regarding an Error in the Journal’s Scopus Source Profile

The Editorial Office of Research in Contemporary World Literature / Pizhūhish-i Adabiyyāt-i Muʿāṣir-i Jahān wishes to inform authors of a clear inconsistency in the journal’s Scopus source profile.
The profile currently states that the journal’s Scopus coverage was discontinued in 2013. This statement is incompatible with the bibliometric information supplied by Scopus to SCImago Journal & Country Rank. SCImago derives its journal data and evaluations from the Scopus database. In its latest 2025 evaluation, the journal is ranked Q1 and shows a substantial improvement in its bibliometric performance. Such a current evaluation necessarily reflects post-2013 publication and citation data associated with the journal’s Scopus Source ID.
A further inconsistency is that many articles from the journal’s recent issues have already been indexed and are currently searchable in Scopus. The presence of these recently indexed articles directly contradicts the statement that the journal’s Scopus coverage ended in 2013. 
The claim that Scopus coverage ended in 2013 is therefore plainly incompatible both with the journal’s 2025 SCImago evaluation and with the indexing of numerous articles from recent issues. The Editorial Office considers the displayed discontinuation date to be an apparent technical or metadata error involving the journal’s source status, coverage dates, title history, ISSN mapping, or content-processing record.
The journal has formally requested that Elsevier and the Scopus Source Management Team investigate and correct this erroneous record. The request also seeks clarification regarding recently published articles that have not yet been indexed and asks that any omitted content be reviewed for inclusion.
The journal has reported its Scopus and SCImago information in good faith, relying on bibliometric records publicly provided by those services. The 2025 Q1 classification is publicly available through SCImago and is based on Scopus data. It was neither created nor independently claimed by the journal.
Further information will be published as soon as Elsevier provides an official explanation or corrects the source profile.

Research in Contemporary World Literature (RCWL) is a quarterly, double-blind, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes innovative and challenging research on contemporary literature. Originally established in 1994 as the Journal of Foreign Languages and re-named with its expanded focus, RCWL publishes original critical studies in both English and Persian on literatures, literary movements, and cultural contexts of the post-1945 era. Additionally, theoretically informed studies that apply post-1945 critical models to texts from any period will be considered at the discretion of the editor.

Please note that studies that address only pre-1945 literature and that do not directly integrate contemporary theoretical models with the primary text(s) will not be considered for publication.

In particular, RCWL is committed to comparative and interdisciplinary research that offers significant engagement with current debates in the field. This includes, but is not limited to, postcolonialism, posthumanism, Arabic literature, African literature, feminism, disability studies, ecocriticism, studies of migration, and research on underrepresented and marginalized figures and literatures.
