The interplay between reality and illusion, using a mysterious concept, and in particular drawing upon the general illusions and fears about death induce an incomprehensible apprehension in the reader. Such stories usually take place in a painful and morbid atmosphere. One of the most important works written in this style in the nineteenth century was the novel <em>Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde</em> by Robert Louis Stevenson. This genre also found its way into the field of Iranian novel writing, and one of the works that has the most important characteristics of this style is <em>Malakoot</em>, which in terms of content and characteristics of the Gothic school is comparable to Stevenson’s novel. The helplessness and duality of the characters, the metamorphosis, the conflict of the characters with the inner and outer world, the presence of ghosts, scary places, death, madness, horrible murders, strange, scary and unreasonable events, fear, etc. are some of the Gothic features of both these works. <br />  در دنیای داستان‌نویسی، گوتیک گونه‌ای داستانی است که مرزهای میان واقعیت، توهم و جنون را مطرح می‌کند. بازی واقعیت و توهم با بهره‌گیری از مفهوم مرموز، خواننده را دچار دلهره‌ای درک‌ناپذیر می‌کند و به‌ویژه از موارد وهم و ترس‌های کلی دربارة مرگ بهره می‌برد. این‌گونه داستان‌ها بیشتر در فضایی رنجور و بیمارگونه رخ می‌دهند. یکی از آثار مهمی که در سدة نوزدهم در این سبک نوشته شد، رمان <em>دکتر جکیل و آقای هاید</em> نوشته رابرت لوئی استیونسون بود. این سبک در عرصة رمان‌نویسی ایران نیز راه یافت و ازجمله آثاری که مهم‌ترین شاخصه‌های این مکتب را داراست، رمان <em>ملکوت</em> است که ازلحاظ مضمون و شاخصه‌های مکتب گوتیک قابلیت انطباق با رمان <em>دکتر جکیل</em> را دارد. درماندگی و دوگانگی شخصیت‌ها، مسخ‌شدن، کشمکش و ستیز شخصیت‌ها با دنیای درونی و بیرونی، حضور ارواح، مکان‌های مخوف، مرگ، جنون، قتل‌های رعب‌انگیز، حوادث عجیب، ترسناک و غیرمعقول، هراس و ... از ویژگی‌های گوتیکی این آثار هستند. https://jor.ut.ac.ir/article_81116_0ad163285fda61ceb4e6afe2e0ae57cd.pdf
