The economic and cultural as well as the military interventions of the colonizing powers was present during previous centuries; now colonization has changed its path more toward the cultural and economic than the military domain. The researchers regard this novel as Post-colonial text, and attempt to investigate and prove the claim that the main characters of the novel under scrutiny experience subalternity and that their survival depends on the resistance of the committed intellectuals. Mahmoud has depicted societies where the intellectuals have the major role in resisting colonizationSeen in the light of Spivak’s ideas, this writer attempts to transform the conditions of impossibility, the hopeless and negative feeling for the Subaltern that nothing will change for the marginalized into a condition of possibility, under the condition that, the Subaltern has been represented by native and committed intellectuals. <strong>چکیده</strong>  رمان <em>همسایه­ها</em> یکی از رمان­های سه­گانه^ء « احمد محمود» نویسنده­^ء اقلیم جنوب ایران است. احمد اعطا (محمود) در این رمان نقش روشنفکران را در زندگی فرودستان در جوامع تحت استعمار بسیار تاثیرگذار می­داند. شرق­شناسانی چون اسپیواک، هومی بابا، ادوارد سعید و همفکرانشان با مطالعه^ء روش­های استعمار و تاثیر آن در جوامع، به معرفی شیوه­ها، عواقب و عوارض آن پرداخته­اند. در این مقاله، رمان <em>همسایه­ها</em>، اثر احمد محمود در پرتو نظرات اسپیواک درباره^ء فرودستان به عنوان متن پسا استعماری بررسی می­گردد و کوشش می­شود این ادعا را ثابت­کند که شخصیت­های اصلی رمان در روند حوادث، فرودست بودن را تجربه می­کنند و نجات آن­ها به مقاومت روشنفکران متعهد وابسته است تا فرایند « دیگری­سازی» و « جهانی­سازی» جامعه ادامه نیابد. از منظر عقاید اسپیواک، این نویسنده می­کوشد تا شرایط غیرممکن، حس منفی و ناامیدی فرودستان را مبنی بر این که هیچ چیزی برای افراد به حاشیه رانده شده تغییر نمی­کند به تصویر کشد و صدای روشنفکران بومی و متعهد را جایگزین صدای فرودستان نماید. https://jor.ut.ac.ir/article_64614_2bf397c02f2559bfd5ed3be937ce4739.pdf
