In other words, men dominated the society and the family. Patriarchal standards of Elizabethan age introduced women as figures that should be dominated and controlled. In most of Shakespeare's plays the conflict between women and the patriarchal ideology has been shown. Women's resistance is the point of disagreement between Stephen Greenblatt who founded new historicism and Alan Sinfield who is one of cultural materialists in Britain. Greenblatt has a negative understanding of the mechanisms of power relations in which he states that resistances are contained within the standards of the dominant while Sinfield believes in the faultlines of the texts in which the dominant cannot hold the ground. Paulina can be seen as a clear manifestation of the text's gap. This study focuses on this disagreement with special references to the Winter's Tale by W. Shakespeare. It also tries to analyze the how female voices tried to gain power and space to be articulated. جامعة انگلستان در آغاز دورة مدرن، مردسالار بود. گسترة قراردادهای مردسالارانه در عصر الیزابت، زنان را موجوداتی نیازمند کنترل و تحکم از جانب مردان نشان می‌دهد. در اغلب نمایشنامه‌های شکسپیر، تقابل بین زن و ایدئولوژی مردسالار به تصویر کشیده شده است. مخالفت بعضی از زنان با ایدئولوژی مردسالار در نمایشنامه‌های شکسپیر و عاقبت این تنش‌ها در کار ادبی، نقطة تقابل بین استفان گرینبلات- که یکی از نظریه‌پردازان اصلی نوتاریخی­باوری است- و آلن سینفیلد- که از متفکران مادی‌گرایی فرهنگی است- به شمار می‌رود. با توجه به دیدگاه‌های گرینبلات، مخالفت زن در نمایشنامه‌های شکسپیر درنهایت، توسط ایدئولوژی مردسالار هضم می‌شود. از سوی دیگر، سینفیلد و سایر مادی‌گرایان فرهنگی، به پایان این مخالفت‌ها در نمایشنامه‌های شکسپیر خوش‌بین­اند. به باور آنان، تناقض در درون ایدئولوژی مردسالار، به­وسیلۀ حضور بعضی از زنان مانند پاولینا نشان داده می‌شود. مقالة حاضر مطالعه‌ای است برای نشان­دادن اینکه چگونه صدای زن، ایدئولوژی برتر را به چالش می‌کشد. https://jor.ut.ac.ir/article_57083_bb037277ea08d01a145604b6ec865c44.pdf
