One way of addressing these differences has been a focus on learning styles. Understanding students’ learning styles is important for the quality of instructional design. A major problem in measuring the learning styles of learners of English as a foreign language (EFL) is the development of a valid and reliable instrument. This paper reports the results of administering two learning styles questionnaires, namely Reid’s (1987) Perceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire ( PLSPQ) and Wintergerst and De Capua’s (2002) Learning Styles Indicator (LSI) originally developed for the ESL learners. Over 1000 Iranian BS and BA students took the questionnaires. The results reveal that the PLSPQ is weak in terms of construct validity and reliability while the LSI enjoys acceptable construct validity and reliability. Since the LSI has fewer items than the PLSPQ, it tends to be more practical. All in all, it can be claimed that the LSI will better assess the learning styles of the Iranian students of English. Most readers readily agree that there are few questionnaires that entail all aspects of a given construct. In the LSI, for example, the mode of reasoning (inductive vs. deductive) is missing. Hence, some items geared towards this aspect of learning are proposed to be added to the LSI to render it more valid in terms of content (content validity).}, keywords = {construct validity,individual differences,learning styles,reliability,second language acquisition}, title_fa = {ارزیابی روایی سازه و پایایی ابزارهای سنجش سبک‌های یادگیری زبان انگلیسی}, abstract_fa = {سال‌های بسیاری است که در برنامه‌ریزی آموزشی به تفاوت‌های فردی توجه شده است. یکی از شاخصه‌های تفاوت‌های فردی، سبک‌های یادگیری است. کارشناسان آموزش زبان انگلیسی، مانند سایر دست‌اندرکاران تعلیم و تربیت، می‌توانند با کشف سبک‌های یادگیری، برنامة آموزشی مناسبی را طراحی کنند. البته تولید ابزار پایا (reliable) و معتبر (valid) مسئله‌ای مهم در سنجش سبک‌های یادگیری فراگیران زبان انگلیسی (به عنوان زبان خارجی) است. در این مقاله نتایج اجرای دو پرسشنامة سبک‌های یادگیری موسوم به پرسشنامة برتری سبک‌های یادگیری ادراکی رید(Reid) و نشانگر سبک‌های یادگیری وینترگرست و دی کاپیوا (Wintergerst and DeCapua) گزارش می‌شود. پرسشنامة اول در سال 1987 تولید شده است و به اختصار PLSPQ نامیده می‌شود و پرسشنامة دوم در سال 2002 تولید شده است که به اختصار LSI خوانده می‌شود. هر دو پرسشنامه در اصل برای کسانی تدوین شده‌اند که انگلیسی زبان دوم آنهاست. نتایج این تحقیق – که با روش آماری تحلیل عامل تأییدی (confirmatory factor analysis ) و آلفای کرانباخ(Cronbach’s alpha ) بررسی شده است– نشان داد که PLSPQ روایی سازه ندارد و نیز پایایی آن از حد معمول کمتر است. اما LSI از حیث روایی سازه و پایایی قابل قبول است. از آن جایی که تعداد سؤالات LSI از PLSPQ کمتر است، می‌توان گفت که از نظر عملی ( practicality ) از PLSPQ بهتر است. بنابراین، می‌توان گفت که LSI بهتر از PLSPQ سبک‌های یادگیری را می‌سنجد. اهل فن می‌دانند که کمتر پرسشنامه یا آزمونی پیدا می‌شود که همة جوانب یک سازه را در بر گیرد. برای نمونه در پرسشنامة LSI به «شیوة استدلال» (استقراء/قیاس) توجه نشده است. از این رو پیشنهاد می‌شود، سؤالاتی برای سنجش این سازه به این پرسشنامه اضافه شود تا به غنای آن افزوده شود.}, keywords_fa = {پایایی,تفاوت‌های فردی,روایی سازه,سبک‌های یادگیری,فراگیری زبان دوم}, url = {https://jor.ut.ac.ir/article_19148.html}, eprint = {https://jor.ut.ac.ir/article_19148_8d5b5dc24ad08d5a9bf98ec074315212.pdf} }
