One of the fields of humanities which can interact withliterature, is psychoanalysis which takes literature to explain its theories, especially fantastic works because of their fluctuation between reality andillusions. The synchronic flourishing of the fantastic and psychoanalysis andtheir common concepts, increases the richness of analysis. Maupassant, the French writerrenowne for his fantastic stories and interest in psychoanalysis, opens theway, especially with a short story called Le Horla, for a comprehensive psychoanalytic analysis. Forthis reason, this article tries to examine the identity crisis of the maincharachter of Le Horla from a psychoanalytic perspective, observing theappearance of fantastic factors, explaining the role of the Umheimliche and thedouble in this crisis, and finally studing the possibility of reconstructingidentity.

This article aims at analyzing thecollection of stories "Digar Siyavoshi Namandeh" (“There is noSiyavosh Still Alive”) written by the Iranian psychologist and author, AsgharElahi, based on Karen Horney's theory.Thecharacters in these stories are in complicated situations and sufferextensively from fear, contempt and loneliness. Elahi in the characterizationof his characters explains with new and creative images their spiritual statesas: fear, contempt and psychological illnesses. These ill people usuallyapproach three major defensive statuses that according to Karen Horney' theoryare: affection seeking, superiority and seclusion. The characters in thesestories - away from reality and in their imagination - live in their spiritualworld and escape from their time and they compensate their failures throughimagination. In these stories " Nargesoo" the main character in" Digar Siyavoshi Namandeh" represents the type of affection seekingpeople," Kazemi" The main character in " Akhrin Padeshah ( Thelast king )" tends towards superiority and " Sardari" the maincharacter in" Dastanhaye Sardari ( Sardari's stories )" prefersseclusion.

The prominent French psychoanalyst, Jacques Marie Émile Lacanand his theories describing the unconscious, has created a huge transformationin Literary Criticism. He uses Freud’s concept of the unconscious andSaussure’s linguistics to explain the new framework of the concept of theunconscious. This paper is an attempt to apply the theories of Lacan in thenarrator of The Blind Owl written by a contemporary writer Sadeq Hedayatas a subject of psychosis. Psychosis is a mental illness which is characterizedby the patients’ disability to encounter the realities of their surroundinglives. The isolation and separation from society, is the beginning of illusionsin which case, the patient thinks himself worthy of the ideal world. So, weexpress at the beginning the application of this theory in the realm of“imaginary,” the realm of the “symbolic” and other terms, then we review The Blind Owl’s narratoraccording to the implications of Lacan’s theories.

Human beings need a compelling reason tolive. In other words, "for what" purpose are we here and why shouldwe live? If there is no "for", human beings will be incapable ofdoing their everyday activities and will not know how to spend their lives. However, all discussions are about this question: where can we access this"for"? Is this "for" placed in the nature of human beingsand should we achieve this by search and exploration? Or is it that this"for" has no objectivity and is a subjective matter and every personhas a unique definition of it for his life? In other words, is the meaning oflife an exploratory issue or is it independent of human beings? Or it is anissue dependent on the subject who should create it creatively? In case thateach one of these ideas is considered, what is the method and possibilities ofsuch exploration or creation? An even more important question which ispresented in line with the previous questions is whether basically meaning is asupernatural issue or does it belong to a field other than life in this world? In this arena, Albert Camus is one of the 20th century scholars who presentsthe issue of the meaning of life from a particular perspective and by removingmetaphysical ideas and limiting life to this world, accepts the meaningfulness of life.

This article studies the concept of tolerance in the works ofLessing and Rumi. For this purpose, we have compared Nathan the Wise andThe Grape Story from the perspective ofthe American School ofComparative Literature with the help of descriptive – analytical method andthrough content analysis. Both thinkersbelieve that differences among people are superficial rather than fundamental. All people seek the truth. They maintain that problems such as war stems fromthe fact that the followers of different religions are not familiar with eachother’s beliefs. They suggest that the solution to this crisis is tolerance.Lessing explicitly talks about three divine religions and stresses tolerance inthe followers of these religions inNathanthe Wise, while Rumi expresses his beliefs in The Grape Storyimplicitly and esoterically. He requests tolerance from all humanity. Indeedboth writers try to promote tolerance and to understand other religious beliefsin an attempt to bring peace to the world.

For Alexandr Sergeyevich Pushkin, one of the greatestrevolutionary novelists and poets of the 19th century, society and thegoverning power were two lifetime issues. Pushkin portrayed different socialclasses including farmers, peasants, and rulers. Moreover, he was master offorming character types. One of these character types that has been mainlydealt with in this study is the superfluous man in Puskin’s character. This group is represented by themain character of the novel Eugene Onegin.Although this character was first introduced by Turgenev in The Diary of aSuperfluous Man in 1850, the character was mainly introduced to Russian’sliterature by Pushkin in his work Eugene Onegin. Along with surveying Eugene Onegin as the representative of this typeof character, another group, which may be called the representative of thegolden generation, is also introduced here. This article tries to elaborate onboth of these character types by picturing similarities between them in thecharacter of Eugene Onegin.

This paper is a comparative attempt tostudy the correspondence of plot and the consistency of themes in SiminDaneshvar's Jalal’s Sunset and Simone de Beauvoir's Adieux: AFarewell to Sartre. These two women have treated the life and works ofthese two remarkable intellectuals of the twentieth century and have performedan extended representation of their personality and thoughts. We compare theassociated and corresponding themes of these two works in order to explore theattitude and perception of De Beauvoir and Daneshvar towards Sartre and hisPersian counterpart Al-e Ahmad. A comparative study of perception andconception of De Beauvoir and Daneshvar about the totality of these two men'spersonality, demonstrates the consistency and conformity of their judgments andpositions. In spite of their different origins and their literary value, thesetwo works confirm the abundance of common visions and ideas associated withsocial and cultural attitudes of Sartre and Al-e Ahmad. anti-colonialist,honest and popular wters and intellectuals.

Postmodern thought has affected all area of humanities;however, its base is found in the philosophy of language, where theorists speakof judgment about signification and meaning; the critic is also seen as ajudge. In this article, we try to vet postmodern thought concerning judgmentfrom six various aspects, called judgments. Despite the correctness of some ofits points, we are going to cast doubt on some other angles. Our method ofcriticizing them is through Islamic thought, which derives from the Quran andtraditions. The findings confirm that despite the common grounds between thetwo sides concerning deferral in meaning or multilayered signification, unlikepostmodern perspective, Islamic hermeneutics spots the aforementioned conceptsin the light of presence.

The essence of British political theatre of the 1970s and1980s might be re-read with regard to its resistance to the ideologicaldiscourses of the dominant power—especially those of the Neo-conservatism ofMargaret Thatcher. English dramatists, who were under the substantial influenceof Foucauldian subversive view on power and ideology, through dramatizing thehistorical events, attempted to stand against the ideology and idealism of theruling power. They began to subvert the literary figures of the past in anattempt to create a new mentality. Among them, Caryl Churchill in her Softcops(1984) dramatised Foucault’s Discipline and Punish (1975) along with theFrench Revolution in order to depict the hegemony and domination of bourgeoispower from the nineteenth century to the present. This paper is an attempt toillustrate Churchill’s anti-Thatcherite policy in the mentioned play and hercoping with the how and why the ruling power substituted its explicit andviolent strategies with soft and disciplinary strategies of surveillance formaking obedient subjects to confront and suppress any potential civilobjection.
